Haygrove School committed to “unwavering focus on providing pupils with a high-quality education”
During Haygrove School’s most recent Ofsted inspection in April, the school, which is part of the Quantock Education Trust, achieved a ‘Good’ rating with ‘Outstanding’ for leadership and management. The inspectors shared many positive reflections about the school during their visit and in their report, in spite of the substantial disruption in the Autumn term with the unforeseen closure of the main building.
The inspectors observed, “At Haygrove School everyone wants the very best for pupils. The school’s unwavering focus on providing pupils with a high-quality education sits behind the decisions that leaders make for everyone to succeed. Even when facing the significant challenge of the main school building being deemed unsafe, this has remained the school’s priority. Pupils feel safe in school.”
Aaron Reid, Headteacher at Haygrove, says, “I am extremely proud of the staff and students at Haygrove. The report captures the many good things about the school and our community. We want to provide all our students with the opportunities to become the best versions of themselves. These are young people who are building a strong sense of character, who will go on to contribute positively to society.”
The curriculum taught at the school was praised and inspectors said, “The school is ambitious for all pupils to learn effectively. In recent years, the school has considerably strengthened the curriculum across a broad range of subjects. As a result, an increasing number of pupils achieve well.”
“Effective training means that staff know pupils’ needs very well. The curriculum and teaching are adapted accordingly so that pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) learn well.”
Mr Reid continues, “I am grateful for the Governors and Trust leaders who provide constant support to the school. Our school has faced significant challenges in the last year, but our staff, students and wider community have faced them head on and the determination to succeed shone through in this report.”
Ms Chrysta Garnett, CEO of the Quantock Education Trust, comments, “Haygrove is an exceptional school with a real drive to do the very best job at educating the young people in Bridgwater. To overcome the challenges faced by the school in the last year and not falter on their commitment to improving their students’ education is no small feat. A huge congratulations to the staff team and students for all of their hard work. Thank you also to the families who have continued to support Haygrove. With a move to a new site hopefully on the horizon, this is just the start of a very exciting time for the school.”
